By Kelseycharmayne Photography – Michigan Family & Landscape Photographer

As a family photographer here in Michigan, I get asked about mini-sessions all the time. And the truth? Mini-sessions don’t align with the heart behind my work.
Beyond family photography, I’m also a landscape photographer who loves golden hour, soft light, and slowing down long enough to truly notice it. That intentional, patient approach is the foundation of everything I create — and it simply doesn’t fit inside a rushed 10–30 minute timeframe.
Mini-Sessions Feel Rushed — And Michigan Families Deserve More
Mini-sessions are designed to be quick. But families aren’t.
Kids need time to warm up. Parents need a moment to breathe. And those natural, candid moments I’m known for happen only when you’re not racing the clock.
Kids Need Time to Settle In | Michigan Families
Little ones rarely jump right into feeling comfortable in front of a camera. They need space to explore, connect, and trust the process.
In mini-sessions, there’s no margin for this. In relaxed, full sessions, we move at their pace — which leads to more genuine expressions and interactions.
Parents Need Breathing Room Too
Michigan parents are busy. By the time you arrive, you’ve probably juggled naps, snacks, outfits, and traffic.
You deserve a moment to unwind with the people you love most.
A fast mini-session doesn’t allow that. A full session lets you actually enjoy your time together.
Real Moments Happen Slowly
The best moments aren’t posed. They happen:
When your child reaches for your hand
When you all collapse into giggles
When your family walks together without thinking about the camera
In the soft, quiet pauses in between
These meaningful moments take time to unfold — and time is exactly what mini-sessions lack.
Golden Hour Isn’t Made for Rushing
Golden hour is central to my work. It’s peaceful, warm, and constantly shifting.
To work with golden hour beautifully, you need space to watch how the light changes, how it moves, how it wraps around your family.
A rushed mini-session doesn’t allow room for that natural progression.
Full sessions let us truly experience golden hour — not hurry through it.
What My Relaxed Full Sessions Give Michigan Families
My intentional approach allows you to have:
✔ Time to get comfortable, so nothing feels forced
✔ Permission to slow down and enjoy your family
✔ Emotional, authentic moments you’ll remember long after
✔ The beauty of golden hour without pressure
✔ Heirloom artwork that reflects who you truly are
This is a space where your family can connect, be yourselves, and create meaningful memories — not just quick images.
Mini-Sessions Don’t Fit the Artistry or Purpose Behind My Work
Everything I create is rooted in slowing down, observing light, and letting your family naturally unfold — much like how I approach landscape photography in Northern Michigan.
Mini-sessions simply don’t provide space for:
Real connection
Emotional storytelling
Creativity
Intentional use of light
Artwork that feels timeless
Offering mini-sessions would compromise the quality, heart, and experience I want for every Michigan family I work with.
If You Want Photographs That Feel Relaxed, Honest, and Meaningful…
If you want imagery filled with emotion, warmth, and authenticity…If you want an experience your family actually enjoys…If you want artwork worthy of your home…
A full session gives you room to breathe, connect, and create something truly lasting.
No pressure..no rushing.Just time, presence, and golden hour unfolding exactly as it should.
