A Year That Began with Hope
2024 started with so much promise. My heart was full of plans, dreams, and the excitement of a fresh chapter. But life has a way of surprising us—and not always in the ways we expect.
The First Loss: My Sister’s Unimaginable Pregnancy | Loss & Grief
In June, my sister experienced something rare and heartbreaking—an ectopic pregnancy with twins. One baby was ectopic, and the other made it into her uterus. We hoped, we prayed, and then we mourned. It was a complicated grief—one that shook our family and reminded us just how fragile hope can feel.
The Second Loss: A Goodbye That Still Hurts
August brought another kind of loss. My mom’s fiancé passed away after a year-long battle with pancreatic cancer. I flew to Arizona to be with her, to witness her heartbreak, and to hold space for her pain. Even when you know loss is coming, it doesn’t soften the blow. It still leaves you breathless.
The Third Loss: My Own Grief Journey
Then, in early November, I experienced an ectopic pregnancy myself. Not as rare as my sister’s, but no less painful. It’s hard to explain the grief that comes with this kind of loss. You’re not just mourning a baby—you’re mourning a future. A life. A name you’d already whispered in your heart.
What Grief Taught Me About Growth
Last year brought more pain than I thought I could carry. But it also brought growth—the kind you don’t ask for but desperately need.
It reminded me of the verse my husband and I chose on our wedding day:
James 1:2-3—"Consider it pure joy... because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance."
Marriage, Faith, and the Power of Walking Through Together
Marriage is not just about the joyful moments. It’s about facing hard seasons together, holding each other through the tears, and choosing love and grace, even when it hurts. This past year tested us, but it also strengthened us.
New Beginnings After Loss
Grief and growth can exist in the same breath. And while I don’t know what the rest of this life holds, I’m standing stronger—even if the roots are hidden beneath the surface. There’s beauty in starting again, even with a heavy heart.
If You’re in a Storm Too…I see you if you’re grieving, growing, or somewhere in between. You’re not alone. Take heart. Let your roots grow deep. One day, you’ll look back and realize how strong the storm made you.
